Ham and Potato Corn Chowder


  1. Three tablespoons of oil and butter
  2. One onion
  3. Two carrots, sliced
  4. Two stalks of celery, sliced
  5. Two cloves of garlic, chopped
  6. One teaspoon of thyme, chopped
  7. Quarter cup of ordinary flour (also rice flour will do)
  8. Two cups of ham or chicken broth
  9. Two cups of milk
  10. One and a half pounds of potatoes (made into cubes)
  11. 8 ounces of diced ham
  12. One cup of corn
  13. Also salt and pepper according to taste


Heat oil on medium heat, add onions, carrots, celery, continue cooking for 10 minutes. Mix garlic and thyme with flour and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until golden brown. Now slowly add to broth, add milk and potatoes and let it boil. Then reduce heat and continue for 15 minutes at low heat. Put ham with corn into it and add salt, pepper as you like the taste.
